Does anybody remember the show, Joan of Arcadia? The TV series is built around an average high school student named Joan who has conversations with God on a regular basis. The catch is, God never reveals God's self in the same way twice. God shows up as a homeless person on the street playing a broken guitar, a custodian emptying trash at her school, a second grader on a swing wearing thick glasses and striped socks. What I loved about the show was the constant reminder that God's wisdom and grace can be found anywhere, especially in the places we tend to overlook. As I build this week's sermon, I'd love to incorporate some of your stories – moments when you discovered God in some unlikely place or circumstance. To help get you started, consider reading Genesis 28: 10-16 and meditating on the key phrase "Surely, the Lord was in this place, and I did not know it!"
