Pastor's Blog: Setting the Bones

I'm interested in verse 8 of Psalm 51 "Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have crushed rejoice."

I've always thought this verse was strange. Why would God "crush" our bones? Then I thought of my friend who goes to her "bone crusher" once every two weeks to get some relief for her lower back, neck and hips. And this got me thinking about the importance of proper alignment and the suffering we experience when our bodies get out of whack. I also thought of broken bones. If they are not set correctly, they can heal in ways that cause permanent deformities or further pain and damage later on down the road.

Now let's apply this metaphor to our spiritual lives. Some questions to consider: How do you know when you're spiritually out of whack? What helps you realign your spirit?

Hey!  Where's the new blog

Hey!  Where's the new blog post?  ;0) I don't know if you ever go back and look at the old posts, but I'll add my 2 cents to this one.  The thing that always strikes me when I read this Psalm is that the writer knows and admits that God is the one who has "crushed" his bones, yet he still trusts God and prays to God and praises God!  That is a very strong faith and I want to be like that--I think God wants us to be like that.Terri Ciosek
