Hard Times Café is a grassroots empowerment organization that gives residents of the Heartside neighborhood and greater downtown area a forum to address local issues impacting their lives as well as the life of the area. The HTC holds a dinner and meeting every Thursday from 5:30 to 7:15 pm. Genesis provides volunteers on the fourth Thursday of each month to serve and clean up after the meal to our neighbors. This meal is an important service to the community because, for many of the diners, it is the only time during the week when they are served food family style instead of standing in line at a mission or soup kitchen.
Two teams of volunteers alternate months at the Café. There is a special need for substitutes. If you have a heart for this type of service, contact Robin Roberts.
