February 22 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our Lenten journey, a season when we walk the spiritual path with greater intention and openness to the call and movement of the Spirit.
This year our invitation in Lent is to move closer to the story—closer to the story of Jesus and closer to the story of our own lives. To help us embody this intention, we'll be using a spiritual tool called a labyrinth. A labyrinth is a walking meditation, a symbolic journey to the center of ourselves and our life with God. At its best, the experience of silently praying and walking this sacred path surfaces in the soul moments of change, growth, discovery, and transformation. It is a method of prayer that leads to peace, healing, self-knowledge, and finding God's purpose in the twists and turns of life. The distribution of ashes will take place at the center of the labyrinth for those who wish to receive them. Stations for communion, candle lighting, and healing prayer will also be available.
The sanctuary will be open on Wednesday on a drop-in basis from 9 am to 3 pm for individual prayer and reflection. Pastor Sue and a team of others will be available in the evening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm to share in the distribution of ashes, communion, and requests for healing prayer.
The labyrinth will be available for use in the sanctuary Tuesday, February 21 through Thursday, February 23 during church office hours (9:00 am to 3:00 pm).
