our voices, in our own words...

We've been a part of Genesis for 20 years. It's been a special home for us all this time. The folks here are unpretentious and welcoming. And you can feel God's spirit here when you walk in the door.

Genesis is a place where everyone is welcome.  It does not matter what you do all week long, here we all worship on equal footing. We truly care for one another, which has resulted in life-long friendships. When you walk in, there is a warmth that comes from people who know God's love and want to share that with others.

It's nice to see church friends outside of church too… as long as you don't run into them. That's a cyclist joke.
Get it?

When we moved to the area, we thought we wanted a huge congregation with multiple service times and traditional music. Genesis didn’t check those boxes, but there was something about it that made us want to visit. From the first moment of walking through the door, being greeted authentically with joy and open-armed acceptance, we knew we’d found our new spiritual home.
- Megan

Unlike some of our previous church experiences, Genesis truly feels like a family. The music, despite being different from what we were used to, is exactly what we never knew we needed in our church life--vibrant, powerful, moving, and joyful! Every week brings healing, love, and celebration to our lives. We couldn’t be happier and are so grateful we gave Genesis a chance!

My partner and I have had a myriad of experiences in a handful of different churches with varying denominational views.  Many churches have touted a welcoming stance, but we’ve only been welcome in the church body so far. Or we were welcomed until they understood our Biblical view on homosexuality and then we were no longer welcomed or even asked to leave and step down from ministry.

The outpouring of love and the welcoming stance from the church body at Genesis is overwhelming!  There is a sincere desire to connect with you and know you for exactly who you are!  In this body of believers my partner and I can be ourselves and serve the church in the areas God has gifted each of us.

The stance of Genesis is to help you connect with God personally and grow together as a family of believers; we can be exactly who God created us to be in this congregation!  We have truly found our church home and can think of no better place to understand how God loves us and calls us to live and help point others to Him.    - Ron (left) and Ryan

After participating in the closure of Snow United Methodist Church in our 125-year-old building , I wasn't sure I wanted to stay with the new church community moving into the old church building in 2017.  I MET the Genesis folks, and the joy, caring and acceptance I felt....well, here I still am...home.

I've been a member of Genesis
for a long time and I have been the administrative assistant and/or treasurer for 12 years.  It's more than a job, it is mission and service to me.  I've stayed with it because we have consistently remained an accepting and faithful community.
