It's about us serving others in mission
coOne of our core values at Genesis is the “extended hand.” It reminds us that as we reach out to others in service, we are both a blessing and blessed. Consistent and dedicated effort is put into having multiple opportunities available for people to participate in what we call “hands-on mission” projects.  The goal within this area of ministry is to have a three-fold field of involvement. Those three areas are:
  • Local – the greater Grand Rapids area
  • National – within the 48 contiguous states
  • Global – wherever God calls us to be involved around the world

We have specific ways that we engage in each of those geographic areas with target goals for frequency of involvement.

Each month we collect financial gifts to support the mission of the month , as well as from time to time doing hands on work.

Kids' Food Basket  |  Grand Rapids

Kids’ Food Basket is a force for attacking childhood hunger in greater Grand Rapids. This organization began over 8 years ago by serving 125 kids each school day through its sack supper program and now serves over 3700 kids each day. Sack suppers are evening meals that provide 1000 calories and 5 food groups–nutrition that’s critical to the development of kids’ brains and bodies.

During the school year, Genesis provides help packing sack suppers. We need 6-10 volunteers, ages 5 and above, for two hours. This is an ongoing ministry during the school year and a great opportunity for your whole family to engage in an activity that gives back to the community in a direct way.

Kids’ Food Basket is located at 1300 Plymouth Ave SE north of Leonard between Ball and Perkins.

Flat River Outreach Ministry  |  Lowell

Flat River Outreach Ministries (FROM) is a Christian non-profit organization located in Lowell, Michigan. Our mission is to help our neighbors in need by walking alongside them; helping them improve their quality of life. FROM gathers the community around our neighbors in need, helping families and individuals keep food on the table, a roof over their heads, their utility bills paid, and so much more.

Once or twice a year we help staff FROM's Mobile Food Pantry, which distributes healthy food to those living in the  Lowell Area School District in need of food in partnership with other local churches & Feeding America.
